Student Accident Insurance

Creating a caring and safe environment for our students is our top priority. Unfortunately, despite all reasonable precautions being taken, accidents can still happen. Some injuries may result in medical, dental or other expenses that are not covered by provincial health care or employer group plans. As a parent/guardian, you become responsible for these expenses. Student accident insurance is available for purchase, on a voluntary basis, through Reliable Life Insurance Company. Forms can either be picked up from the school office or downloaded at www.binks.ca, or you may apply online at www.insuremykids.com

The OCDSB encourages all parents/guardians to consider purchasing this insurance. If your child is involved in after school related sports activities or is participating in any field trips out of the province you may wish to seriously consider the coverage options, which range from $13.00/year to $31.00/year. If you have any questions, please call Binks Insurance Brokers directly at (613) 226-1350.

Safety Drills

In the first school term, as part of our Safety Program at Agincourt Rd. Public School, teachers, students and staff will participate in a series of fire drills. In October, the whole school will be rehearsing another safety and security measure called a lockdown. As with rehearsing a fire drill, the rehearsal of this procedure is necessary in order to ensure preparedness. These measures are consistent with the School Board’s policy and procedures.

  • Lockdown An emergency course of action to secure students and staff in a safe location in the event of an active threat where serious injury or death is imminent if no action is taken. In this case, all classroom activities will be suspended and students will remain quietly in their classroom, under direct teacher supervision, until the situation has been resolved.
  • Secure School In certain situations, student safety is best achieved by “securing” the school rather than implementing a general evacuation or a lockdown. In such instances, the Principal shall suspend the normal school routine and require all students to remain in their classrooms carrying on with their regular lessons, until such time as he/she determines it is safe for the regular school routines to resume. All entrances will be locked.
