About Our School

Agincourt Road Public School is located in the mature residential community of Bel-Air Park and Copeland Park in Ottawa’s west end. Our school grounds are adjacent to a City of Ottawa park, a playground and sports field. Our parents provide a great deal of support and get involved on a daily basis.

At Agincourt Road Public School, we strive to provide a positive and safe school environment that will help students reach their potential physically, socially, and intellectually. Agincourt is a very active and dynamic school. We are proud of our learning environment and strive to create a caring school community that promotes student achievement.

Our Students

We actively support our students in becoming intellectually vibrant, compassionate, and responsible citizens. Our students share their talents with their peers by participating in a variety of assemblies (e.g., Remembrance Day, Safety, Cultural Celebrations, School-wide Assemblies), contributing to the school’s Literary Arts Magazine, and mentoring younger children (Reading Buddies, Technology Buddies, Lunch Monitors, etc.). Our students also show leadership in sports (cross-country running, soccer, volleyball, etc.), clubs (gardening, Eco-Kids), and academic pursuits (French and English public speaking, story- telling, science/social studies fairs). We acknowledge their contributions in our classrooms, school announcements, newsletters, assemblies, our principal’s report to school council, and end-of-year awards ceremonies. As well, we recognize student leadership by incorporating their suggestions into our planning.

Our Staff

Our school staff is very proud of the school’s welcoming and inclusive climate. All staff model and support character education. Visitors to the school frequently comment on the friendly and courteous environment. Student work and school initiatives are proudly displayed throughout the school. All staff work together to provide a challenging and stimulating academic environment for all students. Teaching, educational support staff and administrative staff actively participate in numerous Board-wide professional development activities and we recognize their initiative by providing and supporting opportunities for further professional growth. We also recognize staff leadership via personal interactions with one another, letters of thanks, school announcements, school newsletters, assemblies, performance appraisals, and our principal’s report to school council.

Our Community

Agincourt Road P.S. is fortunate to be enriched by a variety of community partnerships. Strong partnerships have been established over the years with a number of community organizations including the Ottawa Food Bank, the Heart and Stroke Association, the Education Foundation, the Snowsuit Fund, the Rotary Club, and Ottawa Network of Volunteers in Education. We value our relationships with the larger community. We regularly welcome student teachers from Ontario Faculties of Education into the school to learn and work with our staff and students.

Our volunteers contributed hundreds of hours of support for the benefit of students in our school. Our dedicated school council meets monthly and contributes volunteer support as well as financial support to enhance learning at the school. As invaluable partners, we acknowledge our parents and volunteers through school announcements, our principal’s report to school council, school newsletters, and by welcoming them into the school.

Our Parent School Council actively supports the school in enriching the learning experience for all students. They organize a variety of activities for parents and students such as a Spring BBQ, Family Dances, and Parent Workshops as well as provide services for students such as a pizza program and a hot-lunch program. We also offer a Snack Program for students.

The Council helps improve students’ educational experience by fundraising for activities that enrich the students’ learning experience at school. Agincourt Road P.S. has enjoyed a rich tradition of successful School Council events such as the Used Book Sale and the Walk-a-thon. Our School Council is currently undertaking a fundraising initiative to rejuvenate our play yard by incorporating natural elements to create a dynamic interactive playscape.

Fragrance and Scent-Free Environment

At Agincourt Road P.S., we have students and staff with sensitivities and allergies to fragrances and scented products. We would ask that caregivers, staff, and students not wear or use fragrances, or scented products in order to ensure the health of our students and staff. It is for this reason that Agincourt Road Public School is a fragrance and scent-safe environment. We thank you in advance for your understanding and consideration.

Our multicultural students find a safe, stimulating environment where an atmosphere of mutual respect for all cultures in Canada is cultivated. We strive to ensure that our school is a welcoming and safe place for students of all identities to feel valued and respected as they engage, learn, grow, explore, and discover.

A strong commitment to Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility is embedded throughout the OCDSB's 2023-2027 Strategic Plan and captured within each area of focus: learning, well-being, and social responsibility.
